In this lesson, we are going to learn about the Excel 2016 interface, including how to navigate its features, customise toolbars, and switch between different worksheet views.
Excel 2016 opens with a Start Screen that allows you to create a new workbook, select templates, or open recent files. The main interface uses a tabbed Ribbon system where commands are organised into tabs and groups. You can expand these groups for more options and use Ribbon Display Options to control how much of the Ribbon is visible on your screen.
The Quick Access Toolbar above the Ribbon gives you one-click access to common commands like Save and Undo, and you can customise it to suit your needs. Excel also provides three main worksheet views: Normal, Page Layout, and Page Break, which can be selected at the bottom-right of the window. Each view helps with specific tasks such as editing, formatting for print, or adjusting how content is split across printed pages.
